白衣堂旧传统

每年正月廿六日观音菩萨开库日，在菩萨前放置红包，信众向菩萨掷筊，是否应允借红包，若是应允必须承诺归还红包的数量。这成农历新年后的一项重要的仪式，据说借来的红包可以保佑财源广进。

On the 26th day of the first lunar month, on the opening day of the Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva, red envelopes are placed in front of the bodhisattva altar in the hall. The believers will toss a pair of moon block divinations in front of the Bodhisattva, seeking permission to borrow red envelopes in the hope of a more prosperous year ahead with the promise to repay back the next year. This event became popular as the borrowed red envelopes were said to bless wealth.

香客求取签诗，签诗分成两类：一、普通问事的签，一共 60 首，签诗的内容与广福宫以及车水路观音寺的相同。二、药签，一共 60首，在医药不发达的年代，药签成为了辅助医疗的选择之一。白衣堂的签诗很灵验，许多信众有难题都会向白衣大士求取签诗，冀望解开眼下的困境。

Devotees ask for signed poems. The signed poems are divided into two categories: First, there are 60 poems for ordinary questions. The content of the signed poems is the same as Penang Kong Hock Kong Kwan Yim Teng and Burma Road Kuan Im See. Second, there are 60 medicine swabs. At the time of underdeveloped medicine, medicine swabs have become one of the choices for auxiliary medical care. The poems signed by Pek Ee Tong are said to be the most effective. Many believers who have problems will ask for the poems signed by the Avalokitesvara, hoping to solve the current predicament.

上契，父母会带著刚满月的婴儿来到白衣堂，将婴儿放置在观音菩萨像前，希望菩萨能照顾这个婴儿平安长大。

In the deed, parents will bring their newborn baby to Pek Ee Tong, pray in front of the Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva, and hope the Bodhisattva will bless the baby to grow into an successful adult.

七星灯，主要是祈求平安、健康之用。

The seven-star lamp is mainly used to pray for peace and health.

往生钱，尼师会念诵往生咒一定的数量之后，用香枝在往生钱上戳个小洞。据说外道都认为白衣堂诵念的往生钱很有功效。

Joss paper was sold after the nun recited the rebirth mantras and incense sticks were used to poke holes in the Joss paper. It is said that the Joss paper recited by Pek Ee Tong is the most effective and popular.

初一、十五素食招待。

Free vegetarian meals are served on the first and fifteenth day of every month in the lunar calendar

除了前面两项传统仍旧保留以外，七星灯的方式也以延生禄位的形式所取代之。
The first two traditions are still popular. The seven-star lamp has been replaced by Annual Lighting. The tradition of Joss Paper has been abolished.

白衣堂位于槟城日落洞路，一座主祀观世音菩萨的道场。本堂建筑物在槟榔屿众多的寺院中最为特别，是一栋糅杂了英殖民风气与马来式的基脚楼，在热闹的日落洞路更凸显其特有的南洋风格建筑。本建筑物被列入乔治市文化遗产内的二级文物。
